What your skin analysis actually shows

Your mirror shows you the surface. Here is what two different kinds of light can show you about the rest, and what happens next.

The surface is only half the story

Look in the mirror and you see what normal light lets you see. That is a useful start, but much of what makes skin look dull, uneven or congested is hard to judge by eye alone.

A skin analysis looks at your skin in more than one kind of light, on a screen you can see too. It is the first thing we do in every free consultation at Bellavita, and it is where your skin plan begins.

Here is what each stage shows.

Light 1

Daylight

The first image is taken in ordinary, daylight-style lighting. It shows your skin much as you would see it in a very good mirror, but enlarged and in sharp detail.

This is where we look at pores, fine lines and texture: how smooth or uneven the surface looks, where lines sit, and how visible your pores are in different areas of the face.

It also gives us a clear starting picture, so you and Izabela are talking about the same thing.

Light 2

UV light

The second image uses UV light. Under it, some features that are hard to see with the naked eye can show up more clearly.

The main one is pigmentation. Patches of uneven tone, and patterns linked to past sun exposure, may appear in places you would not normally notice in the mirror.

This is simply a closer look. It is not a diagnosis, and we will not read more into it than the image shows. What it does give you is a clearer picture of tone beneath the surface, so your plan can be based on what is there rather than a guess.

What we look at

Four things, in plain English

Across both images, the analysis assesses four areas.

Hydration

How well hydrated your skin appears to be.

Pigmentation

Evenness of tone, including patches that are easier to see under UV.

Congestion

Areas where pores look blocked or busy.

Texture

How smooth or uneven the surface looks, including fine lines.

From screen to plan

You see what we see

You are not handed a verdict. You look at the same screen as Izabela, and she explains what each image shows and what it may mean for your skin and your goals.

Then you leave with a written plan and a price: which treatments could help, how many sessions may be needed, and any downtime. Depending on your skin, that might include:

Treatments are only suggestions. Suitability is always checked at your consultation, and some treatments are not right for everyone. You can book, or take your plan home and think about it. There is no pressure.

What it isn't

Not a medical diagnosis

A skin analysis is a way of looking more closely at your skin. It is not a medical test, and we do not use it to diagnose skin conditions.

If anything comes up that should be looked at by a doctor, we will tell you honestly and suggest you speak to your GP. Results from any treatment vary between individuals.

Common questions

Before you book

Is the skin analysis free?

Yes. The skin analysis is part of our free skin consultation. There is no charge and no obligation to book a treatment afterwards.

How long does it take?

The appointment is about 45 minutes, one-to-one with Izabela. That includes a conversation about your skin and goals, the imaging itself, and going through your plan.

Do I need to prepare?

If you can, it helps to come with a clean face and no makeup, so the imaging shows your skin as it is. If you cannot, come anyway. Izabela can still talk through your skin and your goals.

Do I have to book a treatment?

No. You leave with a written plan and a price, and you can book, or take it home and think about it. There is no pressure on the day.
